RIPA scheme empowering rural women through employment opportunities
Villages are being transformed into productive hubs, boosting rural economy of the state
Raipur 09 July 2023// Chhattisgarh Government’s Rural Industrial Park (RIPA) scheme is making a significant impact by generating employment and self-employment opportunities for rural communities in villages. The scheme aims to empower rural residents and transform villages into productive centers. Under RIPA, positive changes are being observed in the rural landscape, driving economic and social transformation with the enthusiastic participation of local residents.
A sewing unit has been established in the RIPA of village panchayat Shyamnagar, situated in the Fingeshwar block of Gariaband district. This initiative has provided employment to nearly 50 rural residents. Notably, the Department of Women and Child Development has placed an order for sewing 14,000 uniforms for Anganwadi children at this unit. Moreover, RIPA members are actively involved in handloom work, incense stick manufacturing, and laundry services.
The Chhattisgarh Government’s introduction of the Rural Industrial Park (RIPA) scheme is aimed at promoting rural entrepreneurship and establishing small-scale and cottage industries. To facilitate the establishment of these businesses, the government has ensured the provision of essential amenities including water, electricity, and land within RIPA. This accessibility to basic resources has eliminated the need for rural residents to travel to distant cities, as they can now access necessary resources in their vicinity. The high quality of products from RIPA has attracted orders for supply from neighbouring towns and villages, showcasing the success of the initiative. Efforts are underway to integrate more commercial activities with RIPA to further enhance the self-reliance of rural communities. This will boost employment opportunities at the local level, benefitting a large chunk of the rural population.
The RIPA scheme in Chhattisgarh is creating new avenues for rural employment and empowering communities to become self-sufficient. With the establishment of sewing units and the success of various business activities, the scheme is playing a crucial role in transforming the rural landscape, bolstering economic development, and uplifting the living standards of rural residents.
